This Cookie Policy explains how Models118.com, our store for collectible model cars, uses cookies and similar technologies to run the store and your shopping cart, to understand how our website is used and to measure and personalize our advertising. It supplements our Privacy Policy. Models118 is based in Poland, so this policy follows the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and the EU rules on storing information on your device (Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC). If you visit from the United States, our US Privacy Statement also applies.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device when you visit our website. They let us recognize your preferences — such as language, currency and the contents of your cart — and help us improve our services. We use both session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, and persistent cookies, which stay on your device for a set period.
What types of cookies do we use?
Strictly necessary cookies (called “Functional” in the cookie banner and always active): These cookies are required to run our online store. They store your cart and login session and remember your language, currency and cookie choices. When you sign in, sign out or place an order, we also set the m118_device cookie (kept for 2 years), which links this browser to the customer accounts used on it, so the first-order discount for new accounts cannot be claimed again by creating another account on the same device. Under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, cookies that are strictly necessary to provide the service you have requested do not require your consent.
Preferences cookies: We currently use no tools in this category.
Statistics cookies: We use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to understand how our website is used and to improve it. Clarity also records how you move through our pages — clicks, scrolling and mouse movements — as session recordings and heatmaps. Google and Microsoft receive this information, and their cookies stay on your device for up to 2 years.
Marketing cookies: We use Google Ads and the Meta Pixel to measure our advertising and to show you relevant ads. Google and Meta receive information about your visit, such as the products you view, add to your cart and buy, and their cookies stay on your device for up to 90 days.
Our own visit-source cookies: We set two cookies of our own for every visitor; they are not controlled by the cookie banner. m118_attr (kept for 90 days) stores the ad click ID and campaign tags of the link that brought you to us, and m118_src (kept for 400 days) records where your first and latest visits came from, such as a search engine, another website or a campaign. When you place an order, we save this information with your order and customer account, so we know which channels our customers come from. If you came from one of our Google ads, we also report your order to Google Ads together with the click ID and your consent choice, so we can measure our advertising.
If you visit from the European Union, the United Kingdom or any other country outside the United States, we set statistics and marketing cookies only after you agree to them in the cookie banner. If you decline, these tools set no cookies on your device: Clarity and the Meta Pixel do not load and we send nothing to Meta, while Google Analytics and Google Ads receive only basic signals without cookies through Google Consent Mode. We still report completed orders to Google Analytics from our server, so our sales figures stay complete. If you visit Models118.com from the United States, statistics and marketing cookies are turned on by default, and you can turn them off at any time as described below.
Third-party cookies
During checkout, our payment providers Stripe and PayPal may set their own cookies, for example to prevent payment fraud. If you sign in with Google or Facebook, those services may also set cookies. Please review the privacy policies of these providers as well.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, and subject to the conditions in each article, you have the following rights: access (Article 15), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction of processing (Article 18), data portability (Article 20) and objection to processing (Article 21). You can withdraw your cookie consent at any time, with effect for the future, using the “Manage cookies” button in the footer. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU country where you live or work; in the United Kingdom, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). In Poland, where Models118 is based, the authority is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO; uodo.gov.pl). How can you manage your cookie settings?
When you first visit our website, a cookie banner explains the categories of cookies we use — Functional, Preferences, Statistics and Marketing — and lets you choose. You can change your choices at any time with the “Manage cookies” button in the footer. Visitors from the United States can use the same button to turn off statistics and marketing cookies. Turning a category off stops those tools on our site from then on; cookies they have already placed stay in your browser until they expire or you delete them. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some features of our store, such as the shopping cart and login, may then stop working properly.
