About the BMW 700 Sport Coupe Spanish Red AUTOart 1:18

TL;DR: AUTOart's 1:18 diecast BMW 700 Sport Coupe, in Spanish Red, reproduces the small rear-engine car that kept BMW solvent through a near-bankruptcy in the late 1950s. Doors and hood open. This is a used model; the box shows traces of storage. A compact but historically outsized entry for a BMW collection.

Few BMWs carry as much corporate weight for their size as the 700. Michelotti's clean coupe styling and a rear-mounted motorcycle-derived engine turned a company on the brink into a viable manufacturer again.

Diecast Construction and Access on the BMW 700

AUTOart's zinc-alloy body gives the compact 700 real presence in the hand despite its small footprint, and the Spanish Red paint holds even coverage across the coupe's simple, well-proportioned panels. The doors and hood open, exposing a cabin scaled honestly to the car's economy-class origins and a rear engine bay unusual to see modeled at all, since most collections skew toward front-engine layouts. Shut lines around the coupe's compact doors are notably tight, an easier tolerance for a small, uncomplicated shape than for a longer sedan body. This copy is a used model, and its box shows traces of storage; the model inside carries none of that wear.

A Small Car with an Outsized Legacy

The 700's rear-engine layout and motorcycle-derived power plant were a departure for BMW, but its commercial success bought the company time to develop the New Class sedans that followed. Collectors building a full BMW lineage often overlook the 700, yet without it there is arguably no later BMW to collect at all.

Collection Role for the 700 Sport Coupe

This model earns its place as the origin point of a BMW display, best set ahead of the New Class sedans and 2002s it made possible, giving a themed collection a genuine before-and-after narrative.
