The body is zinc alloy, with the doors opening to reveal cabin trim beneath a black finish that shows genuine depth under a display lamp. As a Dealer Edition, this casting carries the more detailed treatment Norev reserves for its higher-attention releases, with tighter tampo work on badges and trim compared to a standard retail-line diecast. Panel gaps sit slightly wider than a hand-finished resin piece would allow, an ordinary trade for a metal body's durability. The 2.3-16's Touring-Car Pedigree

Mercedes commissioned Cosworth to develop the 190E 2.3-16's twin-cam head specifically to build a homologation base for touring-car racing, a rare instance of Mercedes reaching outside its own engineering department for a performance program. The result was a compact sedan with genuine competition credentials, distinct from the ordinary 190E range that shared its bodywork.
