About the Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth Texaco #6 S. Soper / M. Dieudonne / P. Streiff 24 Hours of Spa 1987 IXO 1:18
TL;DR: IXO's 1:18 diecast Sierra RS500 Cosworth reproduces the #6 Texaco car from the 1987 24 Hours of Spa, driven by Soper, Dieudonne and Streiff. The sealed zinc alloy body has no moving panels, keeping the Group A livery continuous across the shell. Completes a three-car Spa Sierra grouping.
Spa's 1987 24 Hours saw Texaco run multiple Sierra RS500s in parallel, and this #6 entry documents a third chassis alongside the team's #7 and Nurburgring-winning #67 cars.
Construction Shared Across the Texaco Sierras
Like its sister entries, this Sierra's zinc alloy body carries genuine metal weight and holds the boxy touring-car silhouette with sharp, consistent cast lines. The sealed, one-piece shell means the flared arches and wide rear wing sit fixed with no hinge gap to interrupt the dense sponsor decal package running across the doors and roof. That construction keeps the Texaco livery's numbers and graphics aligned across a continuous surface, a practical benefit when reproducing a scheme this visually busy at 1:18 scale.
A Third Chassis in a Multi-Car Effort
Running three or more Sierras at a single endurance round was common practice for factory-backed Group A teams in the late 1980s, spreading risk and maximizing the chance of a strong result. The Sierra RS500's turbocharged Cosworth engine made it the era's dominant touring car platform, and Spa's long straights and fast corners suited that power advantage well. Steve Soper, Michel Dieudonne, and Pierre-Alain Streiff shared this particular chassis.
A Complete Spa Grouping
Displayed with the #7 Spa entry and the #67 Nurburgring winner, this car completes a three-piece Texaco Sierra set documenting a single team's 1987 endurance campaign across two of Europe's toughest 24-hour races.
