About the Porsche 924 Carrera GTS Gr.4 #1 W. Rohrl / C. Geistdorfer Rally Hessen Winner 1981 Otto 1:18

TL;DR: Otto's 1:18 resin Porsche 924 Carrera GTS Gr.4 reproduces Walter Rohrl and Christian Geistdorfer's 1981 Rally Hessen-winning car, cast as a sealed one-piece body. This model and its packaging are new and unhandled. A genuine competition subject from Porsche's brief, front-engine rally program.

Porsche rarely gets credit for its rally efforts, but the 924 Carrera GTS in Group 4 specification proved genuinely competitive against dedicated rally machinery in the early 1980s.

Otto's Resin Casting on the Gr.4 924

Resin captures the widened arches and flared bodywork of the Gr.4 homologation kit with sharper edges than a diecast tool would deliver at low production volumes, an advantage that matters on a subject where the whole visual identity is the aggressive fender flares layered over a standard 924 silhouette. The body is a sealed, single casting, so the entire livery and bodywork story lives on the surface: the race-number graphics and sponsor decals sit precisely registered, the flared arches show clean, consistent lines, and the rally-spec lighting pods and underbody details read with genuine sharpness. This model arrives new, still sealed in its original factory packaging.

Rohrl, Geistdorfer, and Porsche's Rally Hessen Win

Walter Rohrl, already established as one of the era's most skilled rally drivers, paired with co-driver Christian Geistdorfer to campaign the 924 Carrera GTS in Group 4 events, and the Rally Hessen victory in 1981 stands as one of the model's clearest competitive results. Porsche's decision to rally a front-engine, transaxle car against purpose-built rally machinery from Audi, Lancia, and others made the effort something of an underdog story, and results like Hessen justified the program even as Group B's turbocharged four-wheel-drive cars soon changed the sport entirely.

Placing the 924 in a Rally Collection

This model fits well alongside early-1980s Group 4 subjects or a broader Porsche motorsport theme, offering a genuinely different silhouette from the marque's more familiar 911-based competition cars.
