About the Ford RS200 Gr.B #2 S. Blomqvist / B. Berglund Lombard RAC Rally 1986 Otto 1:18

TL;DR: Otto's 1:18 resin Ford RS200 reproduces Stig Blomqvist and Bruno Berglund's 1986 Lombard RAC Rally entry, cast as a sealed one-piece body. This used example carries a box with traces of storage, the model itself unaffected. A genuine Group B subject from Ford's short-lived, purpose-built rally program.

Unlike most Group B contenders adapted from road cars, the RS200 was designed from a blank sheet purely for competition, and its brief production run makes any well-documented rally livery a genuinely significant subject.

Otto's Resin Casting on the RS200

Resin captures the RS200's compact, purpose-built bodywork with sharper edges than diecast tooling would deliver at this scale, an advantage that matters given how much of the car's shape was dictated by aerodynamic and packaging requirements rather than road-car styling conventions. The body is sealed as a single casting, so the entire competition presence reads through the exterior: the livery and race-number graphics sit crisply registered, the compact mid-engine proportions and rally-spec lighting pods are cleanly molded, and the wide, purposeful stance reflects the car's genuine Group B specification. This example is a used model, and its box shows the ordinary traces of storage from years on a shelf, though the casting itself remains unaffected by that history.

Blomqvist, Berglund, and the RS200's Brief Rally Career

Stig Blomqvist, already a former World Rally Champion by the mid-1980s, campaigned the RS200 during Group B's final, most dramatic seasons, and the Lombard RAC Rally, Britain's home round, gave the Ford program a high-profile stage to prove the car's capability. Group B's abrupt cancellation after the 1986 season, following a series of serious accidents, meant the RS200 never got the extended competitive life its purpose-built design deserved, which gives period entries like this one particular historical weight among rally collectors.

Placing the RS200 in a Group B Collection

This model belongs alongside other Group B subjects from Audi, Lancia, and Peugeot, representing Ford's distinct, purpose-built answer to that era's brief but intense competition.
